In 2008 several backyards in and around Calgary took part in the program, enabling their apples, mint, onions and rhubarb to be used in tasty creations such as Onion Marmalade, Rhubarb Marmalade and several jellies and chutneys.
Sol Preserves would like to offer a huge Thank You to the individuals of these yards who took the time to visit while we were harvesting.
Today the concept of using what is locally available has not changed. We now have a growing list of (pesticide/chemical free) backyards where we harvest local produce.
Through the “Free Your Fruit” program, we are able to harvest produce that would otherwise go to waste and transform it into delicious, natural Sol Preserves products.
